July 9, 2021 inhabits

If you are going to Uruguay, keep the following in mind:

General:

  • Choosing the right travel date is one of the basic tips for enjoying an unforgettable vacation in Uruguay.
  • Choose a good travel insurance that covers you against possible incidents, since the costs of medical care without it will be very high.
  • Have a passport and other documents in order.
  • As for currency, exchange your money for Uruguayan pesos. You won't find it difficult to get them, although it's best to exchange them before you leave (it can be more expensive abroad).
  • Pack the masks.
  • Buy local products and try typical dishes.
  • In certain places it is recommended not to drink tap water, drink only mineral water, avoid eating fresh vegetables, fruits with peel and ice.
  • If you are taking any prescribed medication, ask your doctor for a brief description of it and the reason for taking it. It would also be a good idea to consult the embassy or consulate of the country you are visiting about the legality of bringing certain medicines or drugs into the country.
  • It is advisable to pack two days' worth of clothing in your carry-on luggage, in case you have to separate yourself from your main luggage. Also, don't forget to include photocopies of your travel documents in your carry-on bag.
  • If you are packing your suitcase to travel to Uruguay, don't forget:
    • Comfortable clothes.
    • Mobile phone and camera.
    • Documentation in order.
    • Portable batteries.
    • Appropriate clothing for the seasons and destination.
    • Classic travel first aid kit with antiseptic, dressings and plasters, paracetamol and some antidiarrheal.
    • International driving license in case you want to rent a car.
  • You can stay in Uruguay as a tourist for 90 days, which can be extended for another 90 days at the Processing Department of the National Immigration Directorate.
  • Always have your valid passport and ID card on hand. Carry photocopies of your airline tickets, passport and/or visas, driver's license, credit cards, traveler's checks, business documents, reservation numbers, and information about accommodation and car rentals. It is also advisable to leave a copy of each at the hotel.

Safety:

During your trip, events may occur in which you may need to contact the relevant authorities. For your safety, it is important that you take into account the following lines of attention:

  • 911: Emergencies.
  • 133: Police.
  • 104: Firefighters.
