UNESCO established June as a month in 1972 to remember, collectively and worldwide, how valuable the environment is for life. This date encourages local and national governments to develop strategies, campaigns and public policies that contribute to the regeneration of our planet, as well as to the construction of deeper ecological awareness among citizens.

June 5 is World Environment Day, but we can celebrate this day throughout the month of June in order to create permanent habits that contribute to the environment. “The celebration of this day gives us the opportunity to expand knowledge for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct of people, companies and communities in the preservation and improvement of the environment” says the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. UNESCO And that is why we can explore three ideas so that a more natural and empathetic being emerges within us with our habitat.
The first thing we must never forget is that we do indeed have a negative impact on our planet and many ecosystems are threatened daily by our actions. According to the ONU “More than 4,7 million hectares of forest are lost every year, an area larger than Denmark, and almost 80% of the world's wastewater is dumped untreated into our oceans.”
The second is to recognize, verify and take advantage of the fact that our world is resilient and we can act to enhance this quality. In fact, according to the most recent report by SURA, During social isolation and prolonged quarantines worldwide since 2020, our company has reduced “consumption of resources such as energy, water and paper, as well as printing, mail, courier services and the generation of waste and recyclable raw materials (recycling).”
And the third thing is to realize that there is much we can do: every living animal, every plant, every drop of water, every breath of air is valuable, important, necessary, beautiful. Taking small actions at home to protect it is one of the many things we can do today to contribute to the regeneration of our environment.
We can plant trees, reuse, protect each species, repopulate our gardens with wild species… with SURA and its specialized area in the environment, Geosciences, we learn more to raise awareness about the environmental impact we cause on our planet and all the actions we can take to care for it.
