You may have heard that “it’s okay to do nothing.” However, are you comfortable with this statement? How much is “nothing”? Are we facing another antagonist called hyperproductivity?
The need to feel useful and productive sometimes works against us because, in addition to absorbing all the hours dedicated to remote work, it also consumes those that should be sacred for resting and enjoying free time.
It seems that there is a collective awareness of hyper-productivity, which is based on measuring performance according to the number of tasks completed, and which questions the time dedicated to leisure or rest.
It's time to find a balance and create healthy home office habits during this quarantine:
- Set priority tasks at the beginning of the day: select the three most relevant ones and focus on them.
- Block distractions, such as social media, for a certain amount of time and try to be totally focused on one task during that time. Once you're done, take a break and go back to another activity.
- Avoid perfectionism: don't waste time on details that don't add value and, on the contrary, can take up space for you to devote yourself to other activities.
Time is money, so make a pact with yourself to make taking care of yourself the most important thing.
When we talk about protecting ourselves, we are not only referring to the physical or mental level, but also to the emotional level, because we are feeling all the time. Our emotions are spontaneous, they arrive without warning and with the intention of making themselves heard.
From biology it is explained that the development of our brain occurs through affection. At birth, love makes a difference in the growth process. We need love to survive, but how to get it and make it tangible in times of crisis. Take note:
- Use your words carefullyLanguage creates realities. So think before you speak to others and, above all, be careful about how you speak to yourself.
- Allow yourself to live what you are feeling. Recognize and accept your emotions. Let them pass through your body. Not everything is perfect and that is the key to the matter, it is okay to feel fear, frustration or intense desire to cry.
- Accept that there is a general alteration of life and that this impacts the emotional state.
- Remember You don't have total control over what you feel and think, but you do have control over what you do., and what you do can transform emotions and thoughts.
- Identify your support network (family, friends, psychologist, among others) and look for it when you feel overwhelmed.
Cheer up! They say that after the storm comes the calm. So, when it comes, you will surely find yourself more conscious, human and strengthened.
