Technology has led us to leave behind some of the things we enjoyed when we were kids. While you are at home, you can take advantage of some of your time remembering the games you used to play and that will surely be new to some members of your family.
We will recommend a series of games in which you can involve all the members of your household, exercising the mind, imagination and memory of each of the players.
Stop
One of the most traditional games among the 80s generation. It involves randomly choosing a letter and using it, each participant must write words that have that letter at the beginning. The challenge is to fill seven boxes that correspond to a name, a surname, a city, a color, a fruit, an animal and a thing. Each box must contain an answer that begins with the chosen letter. The first person to finish and shout Stop wins! You can change the requirements of Stop or add one more box for words related to a hobby, the name of a movie, a superhero or whatever you can think of.
Chess
This is one of the most mentally demanding games. It is played by two people, so it is ideal to play as a couple if you are not in a house with many people. It is about making a move for each turn and creating a strategy that will lead you to checkmate your opponent. You will have 16 pieces to move, either black or white. Each piece moves in a different direction, except for the pawns, which can only move forward. The challenge of this game is to create a strategy to lose as few pieces as possible and to ensure that one of the other player's pieces is left without any possible moves. The winner is the one who can call Checkmate!
Find the pair
As the name suggests, this game challenges each participant's memory. The idea is to get at least 15 pairs of identical figures, for example: two balls, two flowers, two glasses, two animals, etc. You can make the figures yourself and cut them out. Once you have the 15 pairs, you place them on a table or on the floor, arrange them in a disorderly manner and cover them. Each participant can uncover only two figures in turn. The challenge is to remember where the pair is and on their next turn to uncover the identical pieces. The person who manages to uncover the most pairs wins.
Parquets
If you have children at home, this game is ideal because it will allow them to remember numbers, add and subtract at an average speed that will help them sharpen their math skills. Depending on the type of parquet you have at home, 4, 6 or 8 people can play. It involves moving a group of pieces around the entire playing field without any of your opponents getting in their way. Each piece can be moved according to the number that comes out when rolling a pair of dice, minimum two and maximum 12. The player who manages to move all of their pieces to all the places on the playing field wins.
Puzzle
It is certainly one of the games that can bring back the most memories. Forming shapes piece by piece strengthens the association skills that you and your playmates have. In addition, if the chosen puzzle has more than 500 pieces, it is almost certain that you will have a couple of entertaining days trying to associate colors, figures and shapes. It is very easy to get a puzzle because of its low cost and easy access. It is a game that allows the participation of all members of your family, facilitates dialogue and teamwork.
Other games you can explore include word searches, crossword puzzles, character riddles, or movie title riddles with small performances by your children, parents, or partner.
