What is the role of empathy in team leadership?
In this conversation between Roberto Canessa, cardiologist and survivor of the tragedy in the Andes, and Mariela Marenco, an expert in leadership, they answer the question: What is the role of empathy in team leadership? Roberto Canessa tells us about his experience in the tragedy in the Andes: “What happened to us? At the moment the plane crashed, everything was chaos, no one wanted to be the captain of the Titanic and leadership emerged from action. We took out the wounded, the people who died, we acted on intuition and that is where leadership of adversity takes place. In situations like this we must be very intelligent, it is not worth rushing, we must act on instinct.” Roberto and Gabriela gave us their point of view on leadership in work teams: “If you are able to give up your ego, there are no limits to where your team can go. It is important to have confidence, but without it nullifying you and drying up the people who are below you. You have to let others flourish and shine if you want to have a team, otherwise you're just going to have a bunch of sheep.”
Are you still in doubt?
