Marcela Eslava Mejia

A full professor of economics at the Universidad de los Andes, she holds a PhD in economics from the University of Maryland and is an economist at the Universidad de los Andes. Her work focuses on understanding development and equity deficits in Latin America from the perspective of the composition of the productive sector and the factors that affect it, from public policy to human capital and technology endowments. She has led consulting projects for the World Bank, the IDB, and CAF. She is president of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association (LACEA) for the 2024-2025 term. She is a fellow of the Econometric Society and the International Economic Association.
